January 20, 2022

Board Member Spotlight - CeCe Lassiter, Esq.

This month we are excited to kick off 2022 with a spotlight on our new CREW NJ board president, Cecilia Lassiter (better known as CeCe). CeCe is a member of the firm and co-chair of the State and Local Tax & Incentive Group at the Sills Cummis & Gross law firm, practicing out of their Newark office. She began her journey into real estate law in 2008 and has been with Sills since 2015. She joined CREW NJ in 2013 and quickly became involved as a member of the Sponsorship committee, moving up to assume the role of its co-chair in 2017. CeCe enjoyed serving in that capacity up until she became president-elect last year. Read on to find out more about CeCe and her goals as board president.

What is your board position?
2022 President

Why did you decide to serve on the CREW NJ board?
I decided to serve on the CREW NJ board to build meaningful relationships with the members of CREW NJ and to support an organization I truly believe in.

What is your specialty?
My specialty is redevelopment and state and local financial incentives.

What types of referrals would you appreciate?
Since I work at a full-service corporate law firm with offices in New Jersey and New York, which has the capabilities of a New York full-service law firm but offers the economic benefits of a New Jersey-based headquarters, I would gratefully appreciate any type of referral. Our client roster ranges from Fortune 500 to emerging growth and foreign corporations doing business in the U.S.

Have you done business with, or referred business to, any of our current members?
I feel it is very important for women to support other women when possible. Yes, I have done business with and referred business to current members. For example, I facilitated a relationship between one of our title insurance professionals and one of my clients who is a prominent NJ-based developer. I have also received referrals from fellow CREW members; a real estate broker's national client who moved from the West Coast to NJ became one of my clients after she referred me to them.

What are your goals for the board this year?
My goals for the board this year are to increase efficiency at board meetings, to continue to provide wonderful events both virtually and in person despite the challenges of Covid, and to continue to promote diversity and inclusion at the board level and in the speakers we solicit to conduct presentations.
